Yes, they taste like mangosteen, which we love, but iwhich s very expensive in Oz. Just bought some at the Coles in Yamba, NSW at Yamba Fair Shopping Centre. Definitely buy more for a treat.

    • Administrator says:

Thanks Bill! Yes, the Achacha is a distant relative of the Mangosteen – with more tang and less sugar.

    Achacha’s are in Bundaberg!

Went shopping at Bi-Lo in Westfield Plaza (now operated by Coles) and saw the achacha’s sitting near the apricots. I haven’t found a fruit I don’t like so grabbed half a kilo to try out and I love them. Will be popping back in this arve to see if they’re still there and buy more. Also have to say good work on the website. First thing I did was Google ‘Achacha’ to find out where they were from and your site popped up. Very informative!

    Thanks Achacha Team :-)

    Hi Achacha lovers,
OMG, i found this fruit by accident in Coles Altona North in Altona Gate Shopping centre, Melbourne.

Saw the fruit on the shelf without a label, being adventurous as i am when i find something new just had to buy 2, not knowing what they were or would taste like. Got to to checkout and no one could tell me what they were, finally one of the checkout personnel found them, they became a bit of a talking point. Cutting a long story short, got outside and had to try one to see what they were like. Needless to say i went straight back in and bought a kg of them. I absolutely love them, lol, scoffed the lot when i got home and am going back tomorrow to get more, unfortunately i threw the skins out before finding this website, so tomorrows batch i will turn the skins into a delicious drink as well, and try the granata as well :-) . Job well done on the website guys, very informative and thank you for bring this fruit into the market place, awesome.
    cheers all, take care,
    Derek

      Wow, thanks Derek!

This is the kind of feedback that helps us jump out of bed in the morning!! The Achacha adventure has been, indeed, an adventure. Firstly the Achacha is one of the few new fruit on the market, so getting the word out there is not easy. Secondly, now we’re heading down the biological farming method, the adventure and learning has clearly just begun. We’re thrilled you could join the journey!

I hope you can enjoy more of this season’s fruit – we’ve put your name in the draw to win a box.

      Bon appétit!
      Achacha

  29. Darren says:

The wife and myself were recently shopping in our local woolworths store at Bluewater Square in Redcliffe Qld and I found a small amount of these for sale whilst browsing. Woolies had a leaflet with them explaining what they were and how to eat them which was good. I showed them the wife and she was intrigued so we got a couple, she loved hers and has now found another favourite fruit (she dont eat many lol),have just tried mine and ate it all. Found it to be a lot like a Lychee in appearance and texture but with a lot of taste where as a Lychee is more bland.Very much tasted like a very zesty orange which you wouldnt expect, can still taste it in my mouth minutes later!Cool!

  30. Tegan says:

    Hi,

Recently tried Achacha and loved them. These could easily become an addiction I think!

I found mine at the Strathfieldsaye Supa IGA near Bendigo, Victoria (939 Wellington Road). They got a box of these in during the last couple of days and were selling them for around $9.99 a kilo.

Bendigo Wholefoods (314 Lyttleton Terrace) have also told me they’re getting a box in over the next few days.

Looking forward to seeing Achacha available more widely.

    thanks

Found these yum fruit in Dubbo NSW Coles.
Disappointed we didn’t know you could eat the skins till we threw them away :( .
Love the flavour, looking forward to my next one -including the skin! as that delicious sounding drink.

    • Administrator says:

Wow – the Achacha is getting around…Kathy, skins can be used in a number of ways; firstly the Achacha thirst quencher is a great way to deal with the summer heat, and then if you’re brave you could use the skins for a delicious preserve.
      Good luck and thanks!

  33. Tina says:

Today I saw them in Balalclava Coles in Melbourne and had no idea what they were, but decided to buy 2 to try anyway – and LOVE them! I’m going to go back tomorrow and buy a big stash!! It would be great to see them as a staple fruit in major supermakets one day.

There’s a small fruit shop on John Street in Lidcombe, Sydney that sells the fruit, I bought boxes from them for my NYD party! I’ve also spied achachas at my local Coles, although naughty them had put the fruit in the refrigerated section! Maybe someone needs to send them a memo about that…

    Cheers,
    Jess

    • Administrator says:

      Thanks for your comments,
