The world’s first large scale commercial plantation of the tropical Achacha fruit has been established on Australian soil in North Queensland. Sweet, tangy, refreshing and sorbet like, this nutritious fruit appeals to young and old. The Achacha will be new to most consumers, both in Australia and elsewhere, as previously it has only been available to a small group of people in the Amazon Basin of South America. This year's season will commence in December 2010 and continue through until March 2011. We expect to have fruit available in the Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne markets with some exports planned in the new year to both Hong Kong and Singapore. Click here to find out more on where to buy the Achacha. This season we are planning to implement a buy-from-the-web program. As the Achacha's ancestral home is the Amazon Basin, it is only fitting that it should be available through such a scheme ... However for plant quarantine reasons we will have to limit sales to Queensland, NSW and ACT. Be among the first in the world to try this wonderful new fruit!
