The Achacha has been subjected to a variety of tests. One of these, to determine the best storage and transportation conditions, has shown that the fruit has an exceptionally long shelf life exceeding six weeks if kept at about 20°C (i.e. room temperature) and 80% relative humidity. The Achacha Group is working to ensure that all parts of the distribution network maintain the fruit in these conditions so that you, the ultimate consumer, can purchase your supplies knowing that they will last a long time. As the fruit ages its skin may soften a little, and wrinkle – but inside the flesh will still be fine!
If you want to have a supply of Achachas through the winter, just pop some into your freezer, in their skins, and they will be there when you need them as a palate cleanser or as a sorbet dessert!
