A Plant Breeder’s Right (PBR) is a legal right issued by the Australian Government through IP Australia granting exclusive control over propagating material (including seeds, cuttings, divisions, tissue culture etc) and harvested material (flowers, fruit, foliage etc) of a plant variety for a specific number of years. The intention is to allow the organisation which holds the PBR time to recoup the significant costs involved in introducing a product to the market.
The Achacha group holds the Plant Breeder’s Right (PBR) for the Achacha as set out in Certificate 4184 until 2036.
Should anyone wish to exploit commercially any propagated or harvested material associated with the Achacha they are invited to seek an agreement to do so by contacting the Achacha group by emailing or .
